Äärirajoilla (The Outer Limits) oli kauhun, mielikuvituksen ja selittämättömien ilmiöiden teemoja huokuva tv-sarja, joka koki ”toisen tulemisen”, kun siitä tehtiin peräti 154 jaksoa sisältänyt uudisversio. Alkuperäisessä 60-luvun sarjassa oli nähty 49 jaksoa.
Äärirajoilla-sarjan mielenkiintoisimpia puolia olivat sen mielikuvituksellisuus, jännitys ja paikoin myös kauhu, jotka ilmenivät todella moninaisissa muodoissa.
