Vuosi 1995 muistetaan ikuisesti siitä, kun Suomi voitti ensimmäistä kertaa lätkän maailmanmestaruuden, mutta tuona samaisena vuonna alkoi televisiosta myös legendaarinen nuorille suunnattu musiikkiaiheinen iltapäiväohjelma Jyrki.
Tarkemmin päivä oli 1. syyskuuta, kun ensimmäinen suora lähetys pamahti eetteriin ja sen studio sijaitsi Helsingin ydinkeskustassa sijaitsevassa Lasipalatsissa.
Ohjelmaa esitettiin aina vuoden 2001 joulukuuhun saakka ja sen toimittajina nähtiin värikäs kaarti julkisuuteen nousseita tähtiä, muun muassa Katja Ståhl, Olli ”Molli-Olli” Oikarinen, Mikko Silvennoinen, Marika Makaroff, Jaana Pelkonen, Mikko ”Peltsi” Peltola sekä toimituspäällikkönä toimi Antti ”Pizza” Pekkarinen.
