UMK:n selkeästi suurin voittajasuosikki on Erika Vikmanin suomeksi laulama ”Cicciolina”, joka on saanut YouTubessa ylivoimaisesti eniten katselukertoja. Kaikki muut UMK-finalistit ovat valinneet esityskielekseen englannin, jolla Euroviisut on viime vuosikymmeninä lähes poikkeuksetta voitettu. Parhaiten menestynyt suomeksi laulettu kappale puolestaan on Marion Rungin ”Tom tom tom”, joka sijoittui kuudenneksi vuonna 1973. Viimeksi Euroviisuissa on laulettu suomeksi vuonna 2015, jolloin Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät -yhtyeen kappale ”Aina mun pitää” jäi ensimmäisen semifinaalin viimeiselle sijalle. Pelkkä kielivalinta ei tietenkään aina riitä, sillä täsmälleen samalle sijalle jäi viime vuonna Daruden ja Sebastian Rejmanin englanninkielinen kappale ”Look Away”.
